The water in Vietnam is warm and the sun is strong, so sun protection tops the list. Kite, board, harness, helmet and impact vest for your lessons are on us.
For the water
- A rash vest or long-sleeved T-shirt — protects from the sun and from harness rub.
- Swimwear that stays in place when you fall in the water.
- Board shorts or leggings — comfortable with a harness.
- You usually don't need a wetsuit: the water is warm all year.
Sun protection
- Water-resistant high-SPF sunscreen for face and body.
- Lip balm with SPF.
- Sunglasses with a strap — for the beach and for riding.
- A cap or sun hat — protection from sunstroke.
For the beach
- A water bottle — you need to drink a lot.
- A towel and dry clothes to change into.
- Flip-flops — the sand gets hot during the day.
- A waterproof phone pouch.
Documents and small things
- Travel medical insurance that covers water sports (recommended).
- A small first-aid kit: plasters, something for scrapes, painkillers, after-sun (we also have all of this at the station).
- If you already ride — your IKO card or its record in the app.
Your own gear
You don't need to bring anything for lessons — all equipment is included. If you already ride and travel with your own kite, check your airline's sports baggage rules.
For when to go, see our guide “Kitesurfing season in Vietnam by month”.
